Northern beaches to become home to new family-friendly pub

The northern beaches of NSW will be home to new pub, the Forest Hotel.

The pub is set to open mid-November and will be followed by construction of  a 100 room, six storey hotel on the land where the old Skyline Drive-In theatre used to be.

The Forest hotel is being built in Frenchs Forest, on the site of the old Parkway Hotel, right next door to a massive Dan Murphy’s bottle shop.

Behind the Frenchs Forest project is Endeavour Group, the parent company of Dan Murphy’s and Australian Leisure & Hospitality (ALH) hotels.

The Forest Hotel, as well as the bottleshop is part of a $45 million redevelopment on Frenchs Forest Rd East that will also feature a number of different eating areas, including a restaurant and a casual outdoor space.

The pub will also include indoor and outdoor play areas for children.

NSW manager of ALH Group, Lukas McKay, said the old customers of Parkway Hotel will “barely be able to recognise the new pub” as the group has totally redesigned both the interior as well as exterior of the hotel.

The Dan Murphy’s in Frenchs Forest has created 22 local jobs, including a dedicated wine merchant to assist customers in finding wine for a special occasion.

Wine lovers will be enticed by its premium wine selection including Bordeaux and Australian premium wine, the highlight of which are back vintages of Penfolds Grange. All premium wines will be stored in three state-of-the-art wine fridges.

“The highlight is without a doubt an extremely rare 1952 Penfolds Grange – the first Penfolds Grange vintage to be released commercially – which retails for $17,500,” Dan Murphy’s store manager Owen Scotchbrook said.

The store will open its doors for the first time this Saturday at 9am.
