Hotel Windsor developers granted permit extension

The planning permit has been extended to January 2015.

The owner of the Hotel Windsor has won an appeal to Victoria's planning tribunal for more time to redevelop the building.

Work was supposed to start in November, but the developers, Halim Group, sought an extension to begin development by January 2015.

The developers complained the start of the project was delayed by heritage considerations.

However the State Government refused to grant an extension.

The developers appealed the decision at VCAT (Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal).

The tribunal said there were no compelling reasons to refuse to extend the permit saying the project should be finished properly, without being rushed.
