Iconic Hollywood Hotel sells for $10M

The iconic Hollywood Hotel located in Surry Hills in Sydney has been acquired by the Parlour Group for around $10 million, with the buyers expected to bring their distinctive flair to the hotel.

The art-deco styled hotel was put on the market in May.

IT has been famously owned for over four decades by cabaret singer and actor Doris Goddard who died in 2019, aged 89.

Once the internationally renowned venue was put on the market, it had over one hundred inquiries with some big names turning up to inspect the venue including Russell Crowe and Matt Damon who were both spotted separately.

The Parlour Group, which also own the 150-seater modern Japanese restaurant the Riley St Garage, which is inspired by New York‘s Meatpacking District, is expected to maintain the property’s charm – unchanged since it was built in 1942.

The sale process was conducted by HTL Property with trustee Stephen Goddard saying

“The level of enquiry was as diverse as it was deep.”

“It brings great pleasure to know the successful party will keep the doors open in a fashion consistent with how Sydney has enjoyed a relationship with this wonderful hotel.”

The sale continues the boom interest in pub and hotel real estate.
