Fine dining gets a takeaway makeover as Sydney locks down hard

As the Sydney lockdown is extended beyond 16 July to at last 30 July, dozens of the Harbour City’s lavish restaurants have started offering sumptuous take away menus for pick-up and delivery.

The aim is to have Sydneysiders dine in style in their own homes.

On Tuesday, Ormeggio, located in Mosman, announced the launch of its new $250 family dinner boxes, which can feed 4-6 people.

The boxes and feature Ormeggio’s signature focaccia topped with rosemary and creamy ricotta, Bolognese filled arancini balls, cold veal seasoned with capers and pine nuts and homemade seafood pasta, as well as braised lamb shoulder and chef's special tiramisu.

Ormeggio has received rave reviews with one customer writing 'If I could give this 10 stars, I would.'

The restaurant has confirmed it will start taking pre-orders from Thursday, 15 July.

Upmarket waterfront restaurant Catalina has lobster boxes on their take away menu from $425, which include 1kg Sydney Rock lobster that has been poached, dressed and seasoned, 12 freshly shucked oysters, eight peeled King Prawns and a serving of Catalina's famous cured salmon.

There are many online reviews with one diner saying it was 'utterly stupendous, beautifully presented and very good value'.

The restaurant’s website states mid-week orders from Monday to Thursday should be placed 24 hours in advance.

Other restaurants offering luxury take away menus include Merivale, Chin Chin and Skyo, just to name a few.
