Quarantine could keep Raiders star in the sidelines after pub brawl ban

National Rugby League player Curtis Scott may be spending an extra two weeks on the sidelines after finishing a three game ban on Tuesday.

Scott’s was suspended from playing for three weeks following an altercation at a Canberra pub in May.  He is reported to have been involved in a brawl at the Kokomo nightclub in Canberra on 30 May.

The NRL Integrity Unit initiated the ban with time served after Scott was stood down by the Canberra Raiders.

The 23 year old Canberra centre will have to pay $30,000 after he was fined $15,000 for the altercation and an additional $15,000 fine from last year which was issued to him after bringing the game into disrepute.

Even though he has served his three game ban, he won’t be able to travel to Brisbane with the Raiders on Wednesday due to the fact that he was in Sydney and not in the NRL bubble when his ban started.

This means before he can return to the club and fly to Brisbane, he will need to enter a two week Covid-hold period. He may also need to enter additional quarantine in Queensland but this is yet to be determined.

This could blow out his time on the sidelines to over five weeks.

Scott only played 13 games last year after an incident on Australia Day where police tasered him and charged him with resisting arrest before the case was thrown out of court.

Scott still has two years on his Raiders contract left, after moving to the club as a big name recruit from the Melbourne Storm.
