Chris Lucas opens fine diner Society in Melbourne CBD

Restaurateur Chris Lucas has opened his opened his latest Melbourne venue inside the 80 Collins Street precinct.  

Chef Martin Benn (ex-Sepia) is behind the menu at Society, which has been split into two, Eurocentric and Japanese-inspired, which are separately available in the two main restaurant areas.

Some items on the menu include Blackmore Wagyu beef rib cap served with wasabi butter, sweet onion and Japanese pickle, and soy-glazed roast duck leg served with grilled cucumber, caviar lentils and apple.  

The wine list has been curated by globally renowned sommelier Loic Avril, with a selection that includes over 40 vintage wines. 

Melbourne architecture duo Ryan Russell and Byron George are behind the design of the space which is divided into four sections - the lounge, a private dining area, the main dining room and Lillian Terrace.
