Police are searching for a 24-year-old woman who has allegedly escaped from a hotel on the Gold Coast only three days into her 14 day quarantine.

The woman is believed to have fled from the Sofitel Hotel in Broadbeach after being ordered to quarantine from August 2.

"Police are investigating after a 24-year-old woman, who was directed to isolate at a Gold Coast quarantine hotel for 14 days on August 2, escaped from the premises by forcing access through a glass door overnight," the Queensland police stated.

"She remains outstanding and police are currently conducting extensive searches in an effort to locate her as soon as possible."

Queensland is battling to control a Covid cluster with 17 new cases recorded today.
