Fire causes devastating loss of two Adelaide restaurants

A massive fire has destroyed two popular Adelaide restaurants.

At least $1 million in damage has been caused to the eateries, located at Prospect Road’s Rosemont Building.

Rosemont Hall and Sunny’s Shop Asian Street Food, popular for their Thai fusion food, caught fire early on Thursday morning.

MFS crews arrived around 4:30am and had the blaze under control by 6:30am.

Linda Huyhn, who worked at a medical clinic a few doors away, said she was shocked and that she really felt for the owners.

“I have no words now … I’m shocked, like I really am shocked,” she said.

“I have never seen anything like this before.”

Michael Picca, an employee of neighbouring coffee shop Cotto, said he was devastated Sunny’s was destroyed.

“Very sad and devastating for them, knowing that I’ve been here for so long, seeing that place being built and how busy it’s got, it’s upsetting” he said.

“I’m relieved nobody was injured.”

“When I turned onto Prospect Rd from Regency I saw these lights and I was just thinking ‘I hope that’s not us’.”

Fire Cause Investigators are now trying to determine what led to the blaze.
