Hospitality could suffer under NSW’s plan to open up

With just two weeks left until NSW begins the first stage of a three-step re-opening plan, Premier Gladys Berejiklian stated that some businesses could “go backwards”.

It all depends on how many customers are lost due to restrictions on unvaccinated people.

According to the plan, vaccinated people will have many more freedoms while those who are unvaccinated who will have to wait until December to enjoy similar independence.

Speaking to network Nine’s Today show Ms Berejiklian said, "Some people choose not to get the vaccine and that's for them, but they have to live with those consequences.

"But it also impacts businesses, some might go backwards.”

Under the plan, to open up at 70 per cent and 80 per cent limits not only do patrons have to be fully vaccinated but so do workers.

"So that could impact your business. If you choose not to have vaccinated staff, well, that's on you.

"You won't be able to do anything until 1 December.”

Airlines have already stated they're not going to take people that aren't vaccinated.

Ms Berejiklian acknowledged the right of businesses that choose to not serve unvaccinated people, she also rejected claims that the 1 December easing of restrictions for unvaccinated people was too soon.

"Quite the contrary. We've been very conservative because many reports say that at 80 per cent double-dosed you should consider opening up to the unvaccinated and we've said no."
