Luxury hotel to transform Parramatta CBD

Parramatta’s newest luxury hotel at 197 Church St, will be designed by architect firm Scott Carver.

The hotel is part of a plan to transform the CBD into a trendy shopping and dining precinct.

Developers Holdmark stated the area will be transformed into a new commercial and retail precinct with “new civic places, laneways and activation of some previously forgotten heritage icons”.

The 32-storey hotel will feature 200 rooms, a rooftop bar, gym and swimming pool, and a 23-level commercial tower.

It is set to open in 2025 and will be home to several high-end restaurants and entertainment venues. Over 30,000sq m of office space will be available in the commercial tower.

The precinct is expected to inject more than $1 billion into the local economy, supported by 1376 direct and indirect long-term jobs, and 1000 construction jobs.

Kevin Nassif, Holdmark’s chief operating officer said Scott Carver had integrated the historical elements of the original Murrays Bros department store with the modern landscape.

“They have done a fantastic job at balancing the historical elements of the original building with two sophisticated and modern towers that will add to the future Parramatta skyline, and we look forward to bringing their design to life,” Mr Nassif said.

Executive director of Business Western Sydney, David Borger believes the development will turn Parramatta into a modern metropolis.

“This development will be the linchpin of a reinvigorated Church St that will be a destination of choice for locals and visitors alike to eat, shop and socialise,’’ he said.
