High profile bike gangs terrorise Gold Coast restaurant and nightclub scene

A spike in violence involving motorcycle gangs on the Gold Coast has led to a special task force being established, with detectives investigating four different incidents over the weekend.

According to police five men were charged with affray after a fight on Friday night at a Surfers Paradise nightclub.

Shortly after the incident, a man with a gunshot wound to his arm presented himself to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said in another incident on Saturday night, three men were stabbed outside the Pink Monkey restaurant at Burleigh Heads, with paramedics treating two of them for critical injuries.

"Shortly thereafter we had another incident at Biggera Waters, where a dispute has occurred in a unit where two people have been stabbed and there was a firearm produced," Superintendent Smith said.

"Four separate incidents — at this stage it's too early to say whether they're connected, but we're certainly looking at that as a line of inquiry," Superintendent Smith said

"These are high-profile criminal gangs," Superintendent Smith said.

"I think it's important the community know that we're fortunate enough to have plenty of resources and plenty of intelligence that will be effectively able to target them."
