Thief on the run after armed robbery at Rockhampton hotel

A female employee at the Rockhampton hotel was allegedly threatened at gunpoint during a robbery.

CCTV footage of the alleged armed robbery at Raffles Hotel shows a man armed with a handgun, lurking outside the hotel before rushing into the venue.

Police are calling for witnesses who may have seen the armed robbery at the hotel on Little Musgrave Street, Berserker.

It is alleged about 3.15am on 6 December 2021, the armed man entered the gaming room of Raffles Hotel and threatened a female employee with a handgun while demanding cash.

The 27-year-old employee who was working in the gaming room, complied and the man was able to leave with $2600 cash.

CCTV footage released by police shows the man’s movements in the lead up to the robbery where he can be seen running back and forth between what appears to be a gate and the gaming room entrance with a handgun in his hand.

The man, who was wearing gloves and face covering can be seen pacing outside and disappearing from view a number of times before running into the venue, then exiting moments later.

No one was injured during the incident.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Kevin Mawdsley said investigations were ongoing.
