Bondi pub teen bashers to face court in March

Four teens have been charged and a 14-year-old girl is out on bail after an altercation outside a Bondi pub at 11:30pm on Saturday. 

The incident started when a man who tried to enter the bottle shop attached to the Hotel Bondi was refused entry, leading to an argument with security. 

A 25-year-old standing nearby intervened then was allegedly chased and attacked by the man.

The alleged victim managed to return to Hotel Bondi at which point he and a 40-year-old staff member of Hotel Bondi were allegedly approached by a group of teenagers and assaulted, with one teen producing a knife. 

The group fled but were chased by police, who arrested five teenagers aged between 14 and 19. 

A 14-year-old girl was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, resist officer in execution of duty, and breach of bail. 

Police charged a 17-year-old boy with affray and resisting an officer in execution of duty. Both teens were refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Sunday. 

A 19-year-old man was also charged with affray and common assault, and an 18-year-old man was charged with entering enclosed land without lawful excuse. 

Conditional bail was granted, with the alleged attackers to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 22 March 2021.

Also arrested was a 16-year-old boy who was then released from custody.
