Justin Hemmes acquires Lynch’s Hotel for $6M as he buys up more of Narooma

Justin Hemmes and his hospitality empire Merivale has just bought its fourth venue in Narooma NSW, acquiring Lynch’s Hotel for about $6 million.

The pub sits on a 2300-square-metre site at 35 Wagonga Street in the centre of Narooma.

The building was built in 1903 after the original building constructed in 1895 by William Joseph Lynch was destroyed by fire.

The bright blue old-fashioned “Aussie pub” was sold by Denham and Jan Carter who purchased it in 1998.

“We have been looking for a heritage pub to further our continued investment in the region,” Mr Hemmes said in relation to this purchase.

“Lynch’s Hotel presents great potential in a township I have a strong personal connection with, and I am looking forward to bringing this project to life alongside the local community.”

Merivale also owns the Quarterdeck, The Inlet and The Whale Inn, all located in Narooma.

Last year Merivale bought the Lorne Hotel on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road for $38 million as well as Tomasetti House on Flinders Lane for over $40million.

There have been numerous acquisitions in regional areas recently including the Thomas Blamey Tavern in Wagga Wagga that was purchased by a group that includes the Laundy family for around $27 million earlier this month.
