Lasseters Hotel Casino’s $70M expansion highlights Alice Springs as a world class destination

Lasseters Hotel Casino in Alice Springs is set for a $70 million expansion, with owners announcing there will be added accommodation, a rooftop bar and large swimming pool to the existing site.

The first stage of the project will include doubling the number of rooms and adding more family and dual rooms to the resort.

Lasseters Hotel Casino was purchased by Iris Capital in 2021, which has future plans to build residential apartments next to the hotel.

Construction is expected to last three years and will be completed in stages.

Iris Capital chief executive Sam Arnaout said during construction, the project is expected to create more than 500 jobs.

He said once the precinct is fully operational, the organisation would look to hire locals and "transient travellers" for a further 500 full-time jobs.

"We're excited about Lasseters resort becoming the economic engine for the inland capital," Mr Arnaout said.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner, who visited Alice Springs on Monday, said the Northern Territory government backed the investment.

"They're [Iris Capital] doing this because they have confidence in Alice Springs and the future of Alice Springs that this is a world class destination," Mr Gunner said.
