Oakleigh Burger shop targeted twice by arsonists

The owners of an Oakleigh burger shop have been left distressed after their business was targeted twice by arsonists.

Burgled was first targeted about 3.40am on 9 April in Huntingdale Rd, Oakleigh when the offender broke the shop window and unsuccessfully attempted to ignite an accelerant.

The second attack happened the next day at about 7.20am on 10 April when offenders reversed a stolen black Holden Barina into the front of the business before setting the vehicle on fire.

No one was injured but the building did suffer significant damage.

The offender fled the scene in a car believed to be a black Subaru Forester with distinctive black rims and potentially displaying stolen registration plates of TRB556.

An image of a vehicle and man has been released by police, who they are hoping this man can assist with their inquiries.

The man was wearing a grey hoody, dark pants and dark shoes.

The devastated owners of Burgled said the store would be closed for months.

“We are completely devastated to see how someone could do this to our store,” they wrote on Facebook.

“Due to these circumstances, our Huntingdale store will not be able to operate for months.

“We thank our customers and community for their ongoing support. We will continue to stay strong.”

Police are searching for arsonists who targeted the burger store and anyone with information is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
