Man fighting for life after Gatton pub fight

A man is in critical condition following an assault at the Royal Hotel in Gatton, Queensland.

The 26-year-old suffered severe head wounds after the assault by two men caused him to fall to the ground.

Detectives have charged a 35-year-old Gatton man with one count each of grievous bodily harm and common assault and a 49-year-old Gatton man with two counts of common assault and one count each of grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both men have been denied bail.

The victim is fighting for his life in the Princess Alexandra Hospital’s intensive care unit.

He was stabilised by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics at the Railway Street address before being transported to the Gatton Hospital and later transferred by helicopter to the PA Hospital.

The two men are due to face Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 5.
