In a big blow to burger lovers, a popular Sydney burger chain has closed its doors for the final time.

Burger Head enjoyed a cult following, but has been cut down by the cost of living crisis.

Founders Joshua Deluca and Timothy Rosenstrauss and Richard Borg turned the lights off on Monday saying in an emotional video posted to Instagram that it was the “end of an era”.

“That’s all folks,” they said.

The chain opened its first store in Penrith in 2017 and into Blacktown, Casula and Botany.

It has been a difficult road since a post pandemic expansion cost them financially.

“And just like that, all good things must come to an end,” Deluca and Rosenstrauss posted on Instagram last month.

“The past seven years have been nothing shy of an incredible journey of ups, downs and everything in between but unfortunately, we’ve decided to hang up the apron.”

It’s not all bad news for Burger Head lovers as food trucks will continue to operate exclusively through catering events.

The owners shared a photo of a boarded-up food truck to Instagram, describing it as “day one of Burger Head as ‘just the trucks’”.

They have also said this “ain’t the end of Burger Head”.

“We’ve been touched by the outpouring of support from everyone,” they said on social media.

“From the Melbourne F1 all the way down to a 21st at home or a corporate gig, you can book the truck and have it set your way,” they said.

Burger boxes, barbecue packs and limited drops are also on the coming menu and they will supply burger ingredients to other venues, including their own BH Sauce.

A physical restaurant could happen again, but not for some time with th3e focus now on trucks.

“We’re happy with the trucks for the time being!” they said.
