Western Sydney’s football stadiums are set to get a menu upgrade, with the introduction of high-end eateries such as Nobu.

The family-owned Gema Group landed the tender for Homebush’s Accor Stadium and Parramatta’s Commbank Stadium from early 2024 and is set to shake up the eating experience.

Gema Group managing director, Paul Valenti said, “We wanted a premium offering at special events, so that might be a Nobu menu in a suite at Accor stadium or a menu there as part of our event chef series. Celebrity chefs Miguel Maestre and Manu Feildel and pastry chef Anna Polyviou are all on board.”

Nobu’s black cod miso would certainly be something different for sports lovers.

Lebanese eatery Al Aseel will have casual dining outlets at both stadiums, while Sushi Hub and US burger chain Five Guys is also on board.

Accor Stadium will work with Crown Sydney for special events to create a “premium hospitality experience”.

The move follows the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium partnering with Merivale in 2021.

“Back in the day stadiums were set up differently, you could only provide a pie and beer,” Valenti told Good Food.

Gema Group will take over the menu at the Accor and Commbank Stadiums in early January.

Venues NSW CEO Kerrie Mather told Good Food: “We will be giving fans the ultimate choice of cuisine; reflecting the diverse communities who attend our events and Sydney’s richness of culture.”
