The Sundays hotel to open on Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is set for the opening of a new hotel, with rooms overlooking the Coral Sea.

The Sundays is luxury $30 million boutique hotel and restaurant, with a barside pool alfresco dining by the ocean.

It will be open for bookings in Spring 2024, with visitors set to flock to the Whitsundays hotel in Autumn, 2025.

“Nestled among the palms at the northern end of Catseye Beach, The Sunday captures the essence of Hamilton Island’s tropical surroundings,” Hamilton Island’s website states.

“It’s a place where warm oceans meets chilled brunches, and Monday never arrives.

“It’s a world away just a few hours away from Australia’s east coast – with daily direct flights from Brisbane, Sydney and

Melbourne and easy boat transfers from the Queensland mainland.”

There will be 59 guest rooms with views of the Coral Sea or tropical gardens and a choice of a balcony or terrace.

The barside pool will be surrounded by an abundance of sun lounges and cabanas.

For the active kind, access to the island’s 12 kilometres of walking trails, kayaking, paddleboarding, golf, tennis are on offer.

Guests can also enjoy a catamaran, ATV, or helicopter tour of the surrounding reefs.

Over 100 full-time jobs in hospitality are expected to be created.
