Cairns pub bashing leaves man in hospital for five days
A 37-year-old man spent five nights in hospital after being allegedly bashed in a Cairns pub.
The man was followed into the Crown Hotel toilet by a 30-year-old who took issue with the victim walking in the background of a photo being taken.
The May 3 incident saw the man bashed so badly that according to Acting Superintendent Kevin Goan he “was hospitalised for five nights”.
“(He) could no longer be employed and is now without an income while he is recuperating,” Goan said.
The accused was arrested at Cairns Airport on June 4 and has been charged with grievous bodily harm and public nuisance.
The Mooroobool man has also been charged with “habitually consorting” with bikie gang members.
He remains in prison and is scheduled to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on June 14.
