The Star Entertainment Group will officially open Star Brisbane on August 29.

The venue is part of the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane redevelopment, which is expected to cost around AU$3.6 billion. It is a joint venture project between The Star and Hong Kong-listed global conglomerates Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook.

The opening of The Star is part of a phased opening. Phase 1 includes the new Sky Deck, Miller Park and Neville Bonner Bridge, which links Queen’s Wharf to the SouthBank.

Patrons can also expect the five-star The Star Grand hotel to accept bookings soon.

The Star Brisbane CEO, Daniel Finch warned people not to expect everything to be open on day one.

However, guests will enjoy some new experiences.

“We want to ensure our team members are prepared, our facilities have been tested, our processes are right and importantly our guests have an exceptional experience,” he said.

The Star Brisbane will open amid ongoing controversy regarding Star Entertainment Group’s operations. An inquiry into the group and its suitability to operate its Sydney casino (the Bell Two inquiry), has seen several changes already implemented.

The new Brisbane property will look to address revenue issues brought about by the inquiry, premium customers declines and the economic environment.
