Members of the exclusive Sports Club of Sydney will soon enjoy fine cuisine designed by Merivale group’s executive chef Jordan Toft.

Justin Hemmes’ Merivale has taken over the exclusive club and Toft, famous for bringing the caviar bump to Sydney, will provide “a produce-driven menu to nourish and refuel”.

Merivale’s S.C CANTEEN will open on Thursday 4 July.

In an email to members, Sports Club of Sydney stated: “The menu will take members from breakfast to lunch, including wholesome breakfast bowls and some familiar favourites.

“A variety of grab-and-go food options will also be available, along with coffee, smoothies and juices.”

Toft has been busy recently. Following Merivale’s contract wins with Allianz Stadium and The Sydney Cricket Ground, he has helped open outlets like Totti’s and Berts inside the stadiums.

Prior to Merivale’s involvement, Sports Club of Sydney members enjoyed Azure cafe, run by George Gavalas and Dennis Dionatos,

“It was amazing to see the effort people made to come up to my staff and say thank you. We had numerous people write cards,” Gavalas said of his exit.

Gavalas is set to open a cafe at the Entertainment Quarter in early August.

The cafe at the Sporting Club of Sydney has hosted such luminaries as former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones, model Natasha Oakley and Rugby Australia boss Phil Waugh.

The venue is only available to members of either the stadium of the gym itself and memberships start at $5000.

Memberships are currently sold out and the waiting list is approximately five years.
