Marriott takes home 3 of the 2024 Condé Nast Readers' Choice Awards
Condé Nast Traveler today announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards with Marriott International’s portfolio of Australian hotels recognised in the category for Top Hotels in Australia and New Zealand, with The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne taking
1st place, W Sydney placing 4th, and The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart coming in 9th place.
More than 575,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers across the United States submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to offer a comprehensive look at the places they eagerly anticipate revisiting. The Readers' Choice Awards, with their unparalleled legacy as the travel industry's longest-running and most prestigious accolades, remain the ultimate symbol and acknowledgment of excellence within the travel sector. The full list of winners can be found here.
Recognition in these awards underscore Marriott International’s unwavering commitment to delivering world-class luxury experiences, blending thoughtful design, innovative dining, and personalised service across its properties.
“We are honoured that three of our Marriott International hotels have been recognised by Condé Nast Traveler’s readers. Each property reflects the unique culture and character of its destination while offering the elevated luxury experiences our guests expect.
This recognition highlights the dedication and passion of our teams across Australia,” said Jason Nuell, Area Vice President, Marriott International – Australia, New Zealand and Pacific.
Recent findings from the comprehensive ‘New Luxe Landscapes’ report, published by the Luxury Group by Marriott International in July, highlight Australia as the #1 destination for luxury travellers. The report also revealed shifting expectations and preferences among high-net-worth (HNW) travellers in the Asia-Pacific region, further emphasising the importance of the company’s evolving approach to luxury hospitality.
Krister Svensson, General Manager at W Melbourne & Multi Property Vice President, Luxury Hotels Australia added: "The recent success of our luxury properties in the Condé Nast Traveller Awards underscores the strength of Marriott’s luxury offerings and our readiness to meet the evolving demands of high-end travellers. With three properties ranked in the top 10, this achievement showcases the power of our luxury portfolio, which continues to drive growth in this sector."
The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne, which claimed 1st place, has become synonymous with luxury in the heart of Melbourne’s vibrant cityscape. Guests can enjoy panoramic views from every corner of the hotel, as well as signature culinary experiences. The hotel’s serene design, inspired by Melbourne’s art and culture, offers an immersive urban retreat unlike any other in the city.
W Sydney, in 4th place, redefines modern luxury with its cutting-edge design, energetic atmosphere, and prime waterfront location.
Having opened in October 2023, its bold approach to hospitality, combined with Sydney’s iconic lifestyle, creates an unforgettable guest experience. With its dynamic social scene and exclusive events, W Sydney has quickly become a cultural hub for both travellers and locals.
The Tasman, Hobart, which came in 9th, offers a blend of heritage and contemporary design, nestled in Tasmania’s rich cultural landscape. The property’s emphasis on storytelling and local craftsmanship makes it a standout destination in Hobart. Its location, adjacent to Hobart’s historic waterfront, offers guests easy access to the city’s top cultural and natural attractions, ensuring a deeply authentic Tasmanian experience.
These accolades further solidify Marriott International’s position as a leader in luxury hospitality within the Australasia region. Whether it’s the iconic skyline views at The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne, the innovative design of W Sydney, or the historic charm of The Tasman in Hobart, each hotel provides guests with exceptional stays tailored to their surroundings.
The 2024 Readers' Choice Awards are published on Condé Nast Traveler's website at cntraveler.com/rca and celebrated in the November issue.
