SA venues face tough restrictions

The South Australian government has released a draft of new legislation that will place a range of restrictions on licensed venues.

The proposed Late Night Trading Code of Practice would restrict licensed premises from selling any shots or drinks containing more than 30ml of spirits after 2am, and venues will be required to restrict entrance to anyone after 3am. 

In addition, after midnight all drinks will have to be served in tempered or polycarbonate glassware, food will have to be made available to customers and a ‘drinks marshal’ will have to patrol the licensed premises.

There is also a range of requirements relating to CCTV, while metal detectors will have to be used to screen any customers entering a licensed premise after midnight.
