Guyra's Lamb & Potato Festival kicks off

Guyra's Lamb and Potato Festival kicks off today for another year, with a packed program of entertainment and activities.

The Festival celebrates the industries of the local district, and runs at the same time as the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

President, Steve Mepham, says there'll be some old favourites, but also newer elements at this year's festival.

"We've got our main gazebo that serves up lamb and potato themed dishes for tucker, we've got a car show in the last weekend, and we've got the renowned antique machinery display on the last weekend," he said.

"A new event we started last year, the military vehicle rally, that was a huge hit last year and it looks like being double the size this year, with about 120 vehicles coming into town for that."
