Heritage-listed pub damaged in machete attack

A man has been charged with causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to a heritage-listed pub in the Hunter Valley this morning.

Police say the 25-year-old man used a machete to damage a door, timber work and paint work at the Neath Hotel on Cessnock Road.

He has been refused bail and will face Maitland Local Court today.
