Subway sued over short foot-longs

Two New Jersey men have sued Subway, saying the world's biggest fast-food chain has been shorting them on its so-called foot-long sandwiches.

The filing made on Tuesday seeks compensatory damages from the company and a change in practices.

The plaintiffs' lawyer, Stephen DeNittis, said the company should either make their sandwiches 12 inches long (30cm) or stop advertising them as foot-longs.

He said he had measured sandwiches from 17 area shops and not one had been 12 inches long.

The issue got widespread attention last week when a man posted a photo of a sandwich and a ruler on the company's Facebook page.

Milford, Connecticut-based Subway did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press.
