Pubs set to celebrate St Patricks Day in style

Hotels are preparing for big crowds this St Patrick’s Day with the green beer set to start flowing from bar taps across the state in honour of Ireland’s favourite saint.

But publicans aren’t relying on the luck of the Irish with extra staff and security on hand to deal with the Sunday crowds.

AHA NSW CEO Paul Nicolaou said the message this St Pat’s Day is simple.

“Get out there and enjoy the day with family and friends,” he said.

“Have a quiet drink or a meal at one of our pubs.

“Enjoy yourself but do so responsibly – anti-social behaviour of any kind won’t be tolerated on licensed premises.

“Those few people who insist on doing the wrong thing will be removed from the premises – and actually face a $550 fine.”

Mr Nicolaou also warned “pre-fuellers” to stay away.

“The culture of getting drunk at home then turning up at your local to cause trouble has got to stop,” he said.

“If you are drunk you will not be allowed into our venues it’s as simple as that.

“Hoteliers will be working closely with police to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable St Patricks Day.”
