Supermarket giants make case for liquor stores

The two big supermarkets have each submitted applications to the WA Liquor Commission to open liquor stores in Margaret River.

Local wineries have expressed concern over the prospect of having to compete with cheap, bulk wine, labelled to look like boutique produce.

The commission heard an application from Coles yesterday and a submission from Woolworths on Wednesday.

A spokesman says the commission is considering the applications and will release its reasons when it announces its decision.
