Time Out presents World Cocktail Week

The first annual festival of all things shaken, stirred, muddled and (eventually) guzzled arrives.

It’s no big secret that we like a drink here at Time Out Towers. Since the magazine launched in 2007, we’ve been writing about bars and cocktails, tracking the trends and delivering the city’s only scored bar reviews. We’ve taken it one step further this year. Along with the help of some of Sydney’s most exciting bars, we have curated the programme for the first ever World Cocktail Week festival in Sydney.

“What the hell is World Cocktail Week and why should I care?” we hear you cry. Hush now, Sydney, and we’ll tell you. It’s a global celebration of all things mixed, thrown, rolled, shaken, stirred and blended. Established in 2006 by New Orleans' Museum of the American Cocktail Week to promote a better appreciation for the fine art of the cocktail, World Cocktail Week in association with Time Out will encompass 14-days of artful imbibing (May 6-20) in venues large and small, with all events open to the public.

Time Out has worked hard over the past five years to deliver in-the-know bar reviews, showing Sydney there's more to life than vodka sodas, chilled beats and service-without-a-smile. There's a joy to our bar scene you find in few other places around the globe and our cocktail making is some of the best. We look forward to seeing the city's best bartenders show us what they've got in this no-holds-barred celebration as they chuck Negronis in the blender, make the ultimate mixed tape with mixed drinks and recreate forgotten classics. There’s even a Sunday mass celebrating tequila.
Drink up Sydney, this one’s just for you.
