Who is Mamasita's new head chef?

Mamasita's year-long search for a head chef has ended with Andrew Logan jumping to the buzzing city Mexican from St Kilda's Latino-leaning Newmarket Hotel.

Logan, who fills the vacancy left by Jason Jones (B'Stilla), has worked with restaurateur Paul Wilson for a decade and has been head chef at the Newmarket for the past three years.

His arrival at Mamasita is part of a push to increase the kitchen team ahead of expansion plans.

''We'd like to go southside,'' co-owner Matt Lane says. ''But the first step is getting the right team in place.''

Chef Andrew Logan will be manning the tostadita deck at Mamasita.
