2013 Awards for Excellence hits Northern NSW

More than 150 people gathered at the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour last night, for the 2013 Savour AustraliaTM Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence.

About 130 restaurateurs and caterers, whose businesses are located in the Northern NSW region, were recognised at the ceremony for their excellence in food and service standards.

Atriplex at Caves Beachside Resort in Caves Beach has been named the Hunter/Central Coast region’s top New Restaurant.

Caves Beachside Cuisine also took out the Wedding Caterers category and the Caterer of The Year, which is one of the Major Awards.

Restaurant & Catering CEO John Hart believes this is an outstanding effort from Caves Beachside Resort.

“The staff should be very proud that they have succeeded in one of the most objective judging systems in the country, which looks at the entire dining experience, rather than a single food dimension”, Mr Hart said.

The other major awards announced at the ceremony include the following:

  • Byron Beach Café in Byron Bay won the Consumer Vote Award;
  • And Bells at Killcare in Killcare Heights was awarded the Restaurant of the Year


The Awards for Excellence is the most dependable and authoritative guide to Australia’s best restaurants and caterers, which has set the National benchmark for objectively recognising best practice.

The winning businesses will now compete with other region finalists in the National finals to be held at Royal Randwick in Sydney on Monday 28 October.
