KFC plans get council green light

The Mildura council says it does not consider community health effects when deciding on planning applications for new fast-food businesses.

The council has approved plans for a new Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet to be built on 15th Street.

Development services manager Andrew Millen says the fast-food store will have reduced colouring to fit in with the urban landscape.

"It's obviously in direct competition with a fellow fast-food store but also the municipality along with many others are participating in the healthy food program that the State Government's running," he said.
