Sailor Jerry takes over Kings Cross

Sailor Jerry has recently opened the doors to Hotel Street - a pop-up bar located in Sydney’s Kings Cross that will be showcasing live music, film, clothing, tattoo culture and art until October 13.

The brand has taken over the old 21 bar site on 12 Kellet Street and transformed it into a multi-level interactive space that is integrated with social media, allowing guests to link up with Facebook and check-in and post photos automatically via smart pendants that doubles as an entry pass.

The pop-up bar is named after the notorious Hotel Street district in Honolulu, Hawaii, where legendary tattoo artist Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins honed his craft and built his reputation.

Visitors to Hotel Street will be able to take in an exhibition of over seventy distinctive and pioneering pieces of Collins’ artwork.

In addition, there is also a barber on hand for those wanting a trim and a shave, while an extensive number of bands have been booked to play every night and keep the crowd rocking.

The idea behind Hotel Street, according to Sailor Jerry, is to create a space where people can experience the culture surrounding the brand while enjoying some great drinks and music.

“Hotel Street will get under the skin of The Man and the cultural following around him, all the way from the music and his art to the drinks,” said Sailor Jerry brand ambassador, Hugh Payten-Smith.

In addition to great vibes, awesome drinks and banging tunes, guests can dig into some to American BBQ street food courtesy of ex-Tetsuya chef Stuart McGill from Eat Art Truck, who has even created a special BBQ sauce made with Sailor Jerry's rum for the festivities.
