Rockpool named as WA's top restaurant

Celebrity chef Neil Perry’s multimillion-dollar Rockpool Bar & Grill has once again been named WA’s top restaurant.

Rockpool took out the Vittoria Coffee Restaurant of the Year and Emirates Wine List of the Year awards at the star-studded book launch of The West Australian Good Food Guide 2014 at the State Theatre Centre on Monday evening (23rd Sept).

It is the second time the Crown Perth restaurant has received the two coveted prizes in the same year – the last time was in The West Australian's Good Food Guide 2012, during Rockpool’s first year in Perth.

Last year’s Kitchen Warehouse Chef of the Year, Red Cabbage Food and Wine owner-chef Scott O’Sullivan, has held on to his crown for another year.

The Linley Valley Pork Best New Restaurant title was awarded to one of St Georges Terrace’s hospitality gems, Print Hall.

Wills Domain took out The West Australian Regional Restaurant of the Year award.

Judges scored Rockpool a whopping 17.5 points out of 20 to ensure a two-star rating.

Other restaurants to receive two stars were Clarke’s of North Beach, Jackson’s, Red Cabbage Food and Wine, Restaurant Amuse, Cape Lodge, Leeuwin Estate, Vasse Felix and Wills Domain.

Once again, no restaurant scored more than 18.5 points to capture a third star. Twenty-six restaurants received a one-star rating this year.
