Peasant surprise for Spanish food lovers
Peasant, one of Brisbane's more appealing rustic restaurants (at The Barracks), is in for a shake-up.
Owner Jamie Webb acknowledges the simple Spanish food is due for a "crank up". Ergo, he's put on chef Alfonso Ales, a Spaniard from Seville whose Australian career has seen him at the late, lamented Bilson's and then as exec-chef at Jonah's in Whale Beach, both in Sydney. Ales's appointment comes at a time when Brissie is about to say farewell to its finest Spanish inspired restaurant, Ortiga.
Alfonso Ales was formerly at the late, lamented Bilson's.
