Healthy menus launched by Crowne Plaza & Australian chef Teresa Cutter

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced a partnership with Australian chef, nutrition expert and fitness trainer Teresa Cutter to develop a range of healthy menu options exclusively for the meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) market in Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts across Asia, the Middle-East and Africa (AMEA).

Cutter (who founded The Healthy Chef, a company that creates delicious functional foods for optimal health and wellbeing) would create 60 original and healthy recipes for meetings at the hotel chains. These items, from across the said region, would feature on the breakfast, mid-morning, lunch, afternoon tea and healthy snack menus.

All the dishes have been designed to fill the guests and help them to perform at their best. Each item would feature fresh ingredients to energise business guests for productive meetings.

The dishes include poached organic chicken salad with pistachio and lemon parsley mint salsa verde and protein-rich power smoothies made with almond milk, vanilla bean and lush berries (for breakfast).

Phil Broad, vice-president, food and beverage, IHG AMEA, said, “The healthy eating programme for Crowne Plaza would enhance what we offer today’s high-achieving travellers to ensure that they stay at the top of their game. Cutter would offer nutritionally-balanced dishes and beverages at all Crowne Plaza properties in AMEA.”

“We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our food and beverage programmes and develop industry initiatives across IHG with collaborations tailored to the needs of our brands,” he added.

“Recently, we launched the InterContinental Planet Trekkers Children’s Menu, developed by celebrity chef Theo Randall and children’s food author Annabel Karmel, and announced the partnership with Nutrition Australia to develop a kids’ menu for Holiday Inn,” Broad said.

Cutter, who believes that a change in diet can bring about a change in health, said, “I am really excited to be able to bring a selection of my healthy and delicious recipes to the meeting table.”

“Just like the body, the brain would not be able to function without energy. Getting this energy by eating the right foods in the correct proportions could help boost memory, prevent lethargy and encourage productivity,” she added.

“Working with Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts is a great opportunity to support guests and help them to stay productive and energised throughout the day,” stated Cutter, who has penned five healthy cookbooks, of which two have ranked number one on iTunes.

She has also worked on campaigns with the Australian government and such brands as Blackmores (one of Australia’s leading brands for natural health solutions) and Weight Watchers (an international company offering weight loss solutions and high-performance blender, Vitamix).
