Fire at seafood restaurant in Box Hill

FIREFIGHTERS battled an intense blaze at a seafood restaurant in Melbourne’s east this morning.

The fire broke out at the Fu Long Seafood Restaurant on Whitehorse Rd in Box Hill just before 7.30am.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokeswoman Meg Rayner said a dozen fire trucks, including about 50 firefighters, tackled the fire.

“It appears the fire has started in the roof of the building,” she said.

The MFB said the fire has been deemed under control however, crews will remain on scene for some time.
