Print Email Facebook Twitter More Club Coffs closes its doors indefinitely

The financially troubled Club Coffs on West High has closed its doors indefinitely.

Members were given no notice, with signs announcing the closure taped to the Club's doors this morning.

The signs advise members and guests to contact local insolvency specialists for more information.

"We've had no warning whatsoever" - Yvonne Bowles, President of the Women's Bowling Club

"Due to unforeseen circumstances the club is closed indefinitely," one sign reads.

"Any personal belongings on the club premises can be collected today...for further information contact Clout and Associates," reads another.

It is understood staff met on the premises earlier this morning, some saying they found out about the closure on Facebook.

The Club fell into voluntary administration in early 2011, but was handed back to Directors in late 2013.

In its annual report for 2013-14, the Club reported a loss of over $53 thousand.

Members reacted with shock to the closure, with dozens arriving at the Club this morning for scheduled lawn bowls competitions.

President of the Women's Bowling Club, Yvonne Bowles, said it has taken all members by surprise.

"Last time we had a bit of warning, and they traded out which I thought was good, and we were all very supportive of it," she said.

"But this time we've had no warning whatsoever."

Ms Bowles said they are trying to remain optimistic for the Club's future.

"I'm pretty upset, being the Women's President, as our ladies are very disappointed," she said.

"But I've told them to keep positive, and we'll wait and see what the situation is before we take any action."
