‘Byron Bay is officially one of the best places to eat in Australia,’ a representative of the Beach Cafe told me recently.

On 10 April, the Byron Beach Cafe won the coveted Best Restaurant and Catering Service award at the QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards and has become the first northern NSW restaurant to win this sought-after national prize.

This award is now part of the Beach Cafe’s collection of auspicious awards and comes only months after they received the Best Cafe in Australia Award at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards.

In the past 12 months, the Byron Beach Cafe has also been named in The Australian Financial Review Australia’s Top 500 Restaurants, won the NSW Tourism Awards, North Coast Tourism Awards and the NSW Business Chamber Regional Awards.

Byron Beach Cafe owner Ben Kirkwood said, ‘I’m humbled and elated. It’s a wonderful feeling to have been honoured by the industry’s premier awards program as the best restaurant and catering service in Australia.’
