MKR twins to open Greek restaurant Two Fold in Sydney

MY KITCHEN Rules stars Helena and Vikki Moursellas hope to bring a bit of Melbourne to Sydney when they open Two Fold Greek restaurant, in the Civic Hotel in Pitt St next month.

“We just want it all to be open now but we have to be patient,” Vikki says of the ground floor venue.

“We are revamping it, putting in new furniture and rebranding it. We are putting in an open kitchen, the menu is all done, 39 dishes in total.

“We are going for modern Australian cuisine but with some Greek influences as well.”

Among the dishes, some from their new Taking You Home cookbook, will be Spring Bay mussels, four-cheese croquettes, a Greek village salad, and sandwiches during the day, plus a grass-fed Angus beef burger on a buttermilk bun.

“We actually had a taste testing of that last week and people were saying it’s amazing,” Vikki says. There will also be Two-Fold signature burger of pulled lamb eggplant, haloumi and grilled vegetables.

“It’s a pub menu and it’s amazing, but it’s not your average pub menu,” Vikki says.

The upstairs Thai restaurant, Green Peppercorn, run by the Inthavong family, will continue to trade.

“We are going to be based in Sydney for the next couple of years and really focus on Two Fold restaurant,” Vikki says. “We want to bring a bit of Melbourne to Sydney and I think Two Fold will be that.”

The identical twins and MKR 2014 finalists have been riding the reality TV wave, scoring a book deal, releasing Taking You Home recently, plus hosting a number of dinners and events, mostly in Melbourne.

Civic Hotel owner Jim Kospetas is also putting a Greek restaurant at his other Pitt St venue, The Vault. Chef David Tsirekas says the opening has been delayed until September.
