Melbourne's Hardware Societe cafe to open in Paris

Di and Will Keser, of Melbourne cafes Hardware Societe and Bowery to Williamsburg, are taking the Paris option.

Having fallen hard for the City of Lights, they've taken on a 50-seat restaurant, directly opposite the steps of Sacre Coeur cathedral in Montmartre, which they will turn into a brunch cafe, also called Hardware Societe.

"Parisians are getting on board with the brunch phenomenon," Di says.

The Kesers are taking coffee from Brunswick-based roasters Padre with them, and are installing a Slayer espresso machine, one of the first in Paris.

Hardware Societe's Paris branch is expected to open in January.
