NSW Wine List Awards Winners Announced

Restaurant and hospitality businesses that showcase and promote local wines have been formally recognised in the 2015 NSW Wine List Awards.

For the second consecutive year Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) has partnered with the NSW Wine Industry Association to deliver the 2015 NSW Wine List Awards, as part of the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence program.

The NSW Wine List Awards, which were held at The Imperial Paddington from 2:30pm – 4:00pm today, showcased businesses that support local wine producers through wine list development, and actively seek to promote wines that complement their menu.

The winners include:

• Squids Ink, Belmont – Informal Dining Restaurant – Small List;
• Katers Restaurant, Sutton Forest – Restaurant in a Licensed Venue Wine List;
• Honourable Mention – The Lookout – Echo Point, Katoomba – Restaurant Wine List – Comprehensive;
• Quay, Sydney – Restaurant Wine List – Extensive;
• Imperial Hotel, Paddington – Best Metropolitan Wine List Featuring NSW Wines; and
• The Lookout – Echo Point, Katoomba – Best Regional Wine List Featuring NSW Wines.

R&CA CEO John Hart says he is pleased to continue the partnership with the NSW Wine Industry Association to once again showcase world renowned NSW wines in local cafes and restaurants.

“I’m thrilled to see that the caliber of winning businesses continues to grow, raising the bar for those who enter the awards for years to come.

“We know international visitors crave authentic local culinary experiences – this is a great way to reward those businesses that make it a core component of their operation,” Mr Hart says.

The announcement of the 2015 NSW Wine List Award winners comes as R&CA launches its SavourSummer campaign – a national social media photo competition aimed at capturing the nation’s favourite restaurant dishes. This year’s theme is SavourSunday – capturing great meals enjoyed on weekends.

“Australia’s wineries offer some of the best food and wine experiences in the world. These vineyards are the perfect backdrop for local and international visitors to enjoy their weekend meals.

“I am confident the competition will highlight the best people, produce and places that make our weekend cafe and restaurant culture great. Our dining experiences are a key feature of Tourism Australia’s ongoing Restaurant Australia campaign,” Mr Hart says.

Consumers participating in the competition must upload their Sunday dining pictures using the hashtag #SavourSunday and tag the establishment location, then register on the campaign website savoursunday.com.au to win.

R&CA has partnered with Singapore Airlines to offer the diner with the best Sunday photo a trip to Japan to enjoy either lunch or dinner at Luke Mangan’s Salt in Tokyo.
