Restored Heritage Hotel in Rockhampton to be auctioned this Friday

A Brisbane real estate agent says he is expecting a strong turnout when Rockhampton's Heritage Hotel is auctioned this week.

The venue was forced to close in May due to damage caused by Cyclone Marcia and spiralling debt.

It has been fully renovated and will be sold in Brisbane on Friday.

Real estate agent Leon Alaban said it was an iconic building and he was expecting international buyer interest.

"A lot of people use that word iconic but it's got to be one of those assets that's really well recognised within that region or that area, so they don't come up a lot but when they do they're usually sought after and what ends up coming out of it may be a revamped style of what was there previously or even something totally different," he said.

He said interest in the building had been strong.

"It's a real sort of diverse mix of buyers you get, you get interstate buyers, you've got your local buyers of course and you then get international buyers want to have a look at these sort of assets from time to time," he said.

"So we've had good inquiry for the asset, so we're expecting a good auction and it will be interesting to see how it pans out on the day."
