Pub warns riff raff of zero tolerance to bad behavior

PATRONS of the Criterion Hotel have been praised for assisting a security guard who was allegedly assaulted by another patron on New Year's Eve.

Duty and Entertainment manager Geordie Beckhouse said the Captain Morgan party went really well despite the incident.

"It was great to see the other patrons step in to help," Mr Beckhouse said.

"The police responded quickly. They do a great job."

Would-be pirates took over the Criterion Hotel for New Year's Eve, with more than 100 people enjoying the night with DJ Recharge.

Mr Beckhouse said the figures showed the evening was a great success, with about 20 patrons dressing up.

"We had prizes for the best dressed and DJ Recharge was brilliant," he said. "We had about 15 people up doing the Nut Bush and the Macarena.

"The atmosphere was perfect and everyone had a great time."

Mr Beckhouse said the last year had seen many changes to the Warwick establishment.

"We have spent the last 12 months listening to patrons, bringing in a variety of entertainment and making it family friendly," Mr Beckhouse said.

The hotel has a clear, zero tolerance policy to bad behaviour.

"We have security guards every entertainment night," Mr Beckhouse said.

"We get the riff raff out as soon as they even look like causing trouble."

Mr Beckhouse said staff took their responsibility to patrons seriously and took pride in their work.

"We treat everyone the same - when someone's had enough to drink, they get cut off, it doesn't matter who they are," he said.

"The pubs all look to each other. If people behave badly they will soon find they have no where to go for a drink."
