New cafe with 'restaurant quality' class at Agnes Water

A LICENSED cafe with gourmet food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a bucket list of things to do in the Agnes Water region will open in two months.

Leisa Trickett is opening Discovery Cafe in March in the Foodworks complex at Agnes Water.

Ms Trickett said it would have a "laid back, relaxed" vibe, but with a serious focus on good service and gourmet food.

With a vertical herb garden that customers can pick garnishes from and a bucket list of things to do in Agnes Water, she hopes the café will attract those who want a nice meal, but in a relaxed atmosphere.

"In Brisbane there are a lot of places that are going for a café vibe but with restaraunt quality food.

"That's what this is going to be, it's going to be restaurant quality, but not quite fine dining and there will be a good mix of good service and a relaxed atmosphere."

The café will be licensed too, but Ms Trickett said her main focus is good food.

"I think there is a gap in the market with eateries in Agnes Water … This will be a step up from a takeaway shop."

Ms Trickett, an Agnes Water resident of 16 months, has put her life savings into what she's described as her "dream job".

"I'm going to do what I dreamed on doing for a long time .. I'm in this for the long term," she said.

She is keen to use local produce for her meals and also offer good coffee and homemade cakes and slices.
