Search for thieves who hit Manly Deck Bar

It was a brazen act.

Last Wednesday, two men broke in through the front door of the Manly Deck Bar & Restaurant, on Cambridge Pde, Manly, about 11pm.

They helped themselves to two cash registers and eight bottles of liquor. They managed to get away before police arrived.

All up, it cost the venue $1100.

So now the Manly Deck owner Sudhir Shetty has taken to social media to track them down.

He has posted the CCTV footage of the break-in on Facebook.

And it’s had a big response. It’s been viewed more than 28,000 times and shared 572 times.

Shetty says he’s not after revenge. He just wants the case settled so that something like this will never happen again.

“We lost something, we accept that, but I don’t want posting this video to be the reason we target anybody, I want this to be used as a reason for us to be vigilant,” Shetty told the Courier Mail.

“I want it to be used to show this is happening and work on how it can be fixed.

“What these men stole is what a person would earn from a day’s work, is it really worth the risk?

“It’s sad that this has happened.

“We’ve got a very vigilant community out there, so we won’t let this happen in our community, we will look after each other.

“We all stand united to make sure our suburb is safe and free of these kind of unwanted activities.”

The police are now investigating the matter.

Wynnum Police Senior-Sergeant Mark Young said everything was now being looked at carefully.

“The Bayside Property Team is looking into it and the CCTV is currently being looked at with the view of trying to identify who the offenders may be,” Senior Sergeant Young told the Courier Mail.

“It’s a matter of investigation at this stage.”
