Perth gets Australia’s first Aloft Hotel

Marriott International plans to open Australia’s first Aloft Hotel in the Perth suburb of Rivervale.

The hotel will open at the end of this month.

It will be located along the eastern banks of the Swan River as part of The Springs Rivervale, an apartment block and urban renewal project.

It’s a convenient spot, close to the airport, CBD and Crown Perth and, from the end of 2017, Perth Staudium.

It will be an important addition to Perth’s rapidly diversifying hotel market which is just coming out of its malaise.

The hotel will have 242 rooms featuring free Wi-Fi, high ceilings, 55” televisions and rainfall showers.

It will have public spaces designed for business with meeting rooms. Leisure travellers will be able to use the Re:mix lounge and W XYZ bar. It’s also expected to attract members of the local Rivervale community.

It’s a place designed where people can interact rather than just check in.

It’s a complete package that meets every requirement for contemporary hotel accommodation.

“It’s going to be a very urban, chic hotel,” Aloft Perth general manager, Stephen Morahan told Broadsheet..com.au.

“It’s going to be very social and interactive. The Perth market takes to things that are new and people here are very local in supporting things that suit them.”

“We want this hotel to be something the precinct can make its own. It was designed so the community could feel like they’re in that space and vice versa. Everybody will be watching and hopefully it’ll be a benchmark for what can be done elsewhere.”

And it will be very West Australian.

There will be artwork from local artists including Anya Brock and David Spencer.

And Mount Hawthorn-based Humblebee Coffee Roasters will supply the coffee.

Marriott is planning to open two more Aloft hotels in Melbourne and Adelaide over the next few years.
