New Hilton for Sydney

With demand for hotel rooms in Sydney on the up, Multiplex is now building the city’s newest Hilton hotel located at 65 Sussex Street, Sydney.

Multiplex is nearly finished the construction job creating the West Hotel Sydney.

The hotel will be Hilton Hotel’s first Curio Collection for Australia.

Owned by the Singapore-based M&L Hospitality group, the Curio Collection by Hilton is being pitched as an upscale hotel brand within Hilton's portfolio.

M&L owns the Hyatt Regency, also in Sussex Street at Darling Harbour. It plans to open the West Hotel later this month.

Curio Collection hotels are supported by Hilton.

Each of these hotels will have their own individual branding and local character.

Designed by architects Fitzpatrick + Partners, the West Hotel will be a  mid-scale property.

It will feature an eight-storey tower with a distinctive geometric façade.

A feature that sets it apart is the distinctive geometric façade with 333 individual panels of glass used for its construction. This is the first of its kind in Australia

It will have 182 guest rooms including four suites, an internal courtyard, meeting space, restaurant and bar. All of that is set against an imposing three-storey internal garden atrium courtyard, white waratah flower motif in the lobby and floral-inspired carpet design in the guest rooms.

The interiors are designed by architecture firm Woods Bagot.

“We are thrilled to deliver the first Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Australia in partnership with both M&L Hospitality and Hilton Worldwide,” Multiplex’s regional managing director David Ghannoum told The Urban Developer.

“This upscale hotel will be a great contribution to the revitalisation of the Western Corridor in Sydney’s CBD.”

Multiplex has worked with M&L over the years, completing the redevelopment of M&L Hospitality's other hotel site at 161 Sussex Street, Darling Harbour, in December 2016.

That hotel opened as Hyatt Regency.
